24 Years Young

The birthday wreath is hanging on the front door... so that can only mean one thing... A party! Today we celebrated Cason's birthday. Boy do we have fun around here on birthdays.
Cason couldn't get Sunday, his actual birthday off of work, but he did come home a little bit early Saturday night and we went out for chinese food. Creighton of course did not disappoint us and as usual, embarrassed his dad by leaving a huge mess under his high chair. Then we went to Perkins and brought a pie home to eat while we watched Disney's Heavyweights. It wasn't as great as I had remembered from 15 years ago... Playtime before bedtime consisted of family pictures in the bathroom! Creighton says it's the most fun room in the house and is always trying to find an excuse to be in there!
Then this morning Cason got up nice and early for Bishopric meeting-but he took bagels and cream cheese so everyone else could help celebrate the big 24. For lunch, by request, shredded beef burritos. Cason is so predictable. Gift opening: I was selfish and got Cason some guitar stuff for birthday and Valentine's Day. I say selfish, because I will be happy to listen to him play! Off to work... (Creighton and I sat home BORED) Then when he came home, leftover burritos and for dessert... root beer floats! My husband isn't much for desserts, like cake.
We are happy to help our daddy celebrate his birthday however he wants to! We love him!

Neighborhood Watch

Creighton likes to watch and study our neighborhood. He is always on the lookout for anything suspicious. So watch out... don't come cause trouble in our neck of the woods-he will catch you!

Joy Beyond Measure

Today Cason gave me a Valentine's Day gift with a card that said he wished he could do more to show his love for me. I feel so blessed to have Cason. He is so kind and good to me. I never imagined that I would be with someone who treated me so wonderfully. He shows me everyday how me he loves me, not just on Valentine's Day. I am so glad that he is my other half.
A woman in my ward was speaking in sacrament recently and expressed her love for her husband and began to cry as she explained how wonderful her husband is to her. A woman in the foyer with me made a gagging gesture and noise. I on the other hand, love to hear that others are so happy in their marriage and family. That is the purpose of this life on earth. Cason and Creighton bring me joy beyond measure.

A Valentine Memory

This past week I have been thinking about last year's Valentine's Day.
I was extremely pregnant, huge in fact, with painfully swollen feet, packing boxes in an old home and unpacking them in my newly purchased home.
Boy am I glad that this Valentine's Day is not full of those same events.

Walking

Today Creighton is 11 months. Lately, he and mommy have been hearing a lot of this... "Isn't he walking yet?"
No. Mr. Creighton is not walking yet. He doesn't really see a reason for it yet. He is able to get everywhere he wants to. Like for instance, the dishwasher. And mommy knows when he is ready he will just take off! I remember many months ago wanting him to roll over-we would "practice" on a blanket on the living room floor. Now somedays I think, "Ah! Quit moving! Hold still!" Funny. Each stage has it's joys and its frustrations.

Snip, Snip

After 2 1/2 years of letting my hair grow long, I finally chopped off 11 inches!
Unfortunately, Cason and I haven't quite perfected the art of taking a photo of ourselves.
This "picture" is from Christmas time- that hair sure was beautiful! Whoever ends up with my hair in their wig sure is lucky!
The first time I ever had a real hair cut was in 2nd grade. I had super long hair but I wanted to cut it so I would have short hair like my friend Macey Brooks. I remember being so sad afterwards that I cut all of my hair off.
Oh, girls are so silly when it comes to their hair. Grow it out, cut it off, grow it out, cut it off... It's a vicious cycle! We'll see if it ever gets that long again... Sure does feel good for now!
