Summer! So far...

Summer came and now we are more than half-way through! This is how we have spent some of our summer-time...
We test-drive our uncle's motorcycle! Vroom... Vroom! Creighton has actually been quite interested in driving recently. He asks lots of questions about the car and is just sure that he is ready to learn to drive! We have had lots of conversations explaining he needs to be much older. BUT HE HAS become much braver "driving" his Spiderman bike! He now speeds down the street "like a fire dragon". It is time for a helmet...
Macey Jo is the reason for Creighton's sudden interest in learning to ride his bike well. He can't let his little sister show him up! She loves to do all things considered "big kid". Macey Jo got this bike from her grandma and grandpa and loves it!
Though Macey Jo loves all things big-kid she also loves babies. Here she is, in a baby bed she made out of a laundry basket. Her and Creighton LOVE to do this and mom strongly dislikes when the mis-matched socks in those baskets are strewn throughout the house....
We love spending time with cousins, a newest addition to our family is Logan Robert Chambers! The kiddos love babies!!

Idaho cousins minus the Kansas cousins. (The 3 Giraud girls... I am sure Macey Jo wishes they were here- she is SO outnumbered!!)
From left to right: Logan- a few days old, Macey Jo- 2 years, Kyle- 3 years, Creighton- 5 years, Tyler- 2 years.
Potty training!! Actually, who am I kidding?! There is not a lot of that going on this summer! Occasionally she wears panties and uses the potty when SHE wants to. Potty training was torture with Creighton. So I am waiting until she is completely ready and basically does it herself. Call me lazy, whatever. I am totally okay with having a 2 1/2 year old not potty trained.

Some times mom tries out the fun things that she sees on Pinterest and Facebook. This one above, hair conditioner play-doh, was a disaster. Messy to make, messy to play with and not as entertaining for the kids as I would have liked! Though it did smell amazing- we will not be repeating this particular play-doh recipe.
A new experience for Creighton- losing teeth! He lost his first tooth on Father's Day (during stake conference!) and the second one on July 21st. Only about a month apart, and both permanent teeth are making their way through! I can't believe he is old enough to lose teeth.
Of course this doll face insisted on pictures of her teeth as well!
During the 4th of July parade this year Creighton kept screaming, "This is the best parade ever!" (One of the only parades we've ever taken him to, really.) But it was disappointing when he realized that all of the candy he collected was taffy and flavored tootsie rolls. He prefers chocolate!

The last week of June and first couple of weeks of July were record-setting scorchers! It was SO hot! I bought the kids a really nice Little Tikes sprinkler that had a place to put balls, then they would roll down a spiral chute and the water pressure would blow them out the top! I thought the kids would love it! They did not- they got TOO wet. They have preferred to play in the smaller sprinkler I use to water a small patch of grass in the front yard that gets too much sun.
We went to Bear Lake for the first time as a family recently and the kids REALLY enjoyed themselves. They LOVED the beach. I was surprised how brave they were, running out far into the water. Of course they loved playing in the sand and splashing in the water. They are eager to find out when we are going back to the beach. In fact, Macey has created her own little beach in our basement and regularly applies lotion to the whole family so we won't get a sunburn while at the "basement beach". Likely we will go one more time this summer- the kids love it so much!

The classic burying-the-body-in-sand was a BIG hit with Creighton!
The kids also went to Lagoon for the first time! They were able to go with their daddy and the entire Chambers crew! (I had to work.) They were thrilled with their experience and are eager to go back!
Coming soon is a big event in our family- the wedding of Aunt Sidnie! The kids love Aunt Sidnie's fiancee Brent! Creighton thinks he is SO COOL and they give each other high fives and fist-pumps. He calls Macey Jo "princess" and is always willing to hold her.
August 12th- Payson, Utah temple... Hooray!!
This summer Grandpa Dennis' heart was very sick and he had quadruple bypass surgery. Great-Grandma Carol is also sick but unfortunately despite numerous tests doctors still haven't figured out how to make her better. We are grateful when we get to spend time with our family- we love them so much and have a WONDERFUL eternal family!

A quick stop at the Logan temple before attending our new baby cousins' blessing was so fun! The kids and I had never been there before. We always love to visit the house of the Lord!
Hooray for the summer-time!

The ZOO

Things have been relatively boring around the Chambers household. And by that I mean that we don't "get out" much. We have plenty of fun at home- but there are no pictures of watching movies, making art projects, playing in the front yard (hooray for sunshine!), playing tablet games or Candy Land, taking walks around the neighborhood, or building towers/marble racers/forts.
However, here are a few pictures from our recent outing to the ZOO here in Pocatello. Cason got some free tickets from work and Creighton was anxious to go. We waited several weeks after Cason got the tickets, trying to find a time when all of us could go and the weather would be nice. But it has been raining A LOT lately so we finally went on a Saturday when it was convenient for all of us to go- YET raining! The kids insisted on going that day and let us know that the rain was no problem for them!

Most of the animals were still out and about so we got to see what we came for. Creighton says his favorite was the bear and Macey Jo's favorite is any animal that you mention. Towards the end of the visit it was getting really windy and we were getting pretty soaked- so we opted out of seeing a few of the last exhibits.
Macey Jo was especially wet. Miss Independent refused walking under an umbrella (probably because it was somebody else's idea). I am glad there was no one else at the zoo that day because as parents we looked neglectful! By the end she did allow daddy to be his coat on her.
We ended the afternoon with a trip for hamburgers and french fries- which to these kiddos is always the BEST way to end anything!

Easter Events

Well, this year we included in our Easter celebration all of the necessities: coloring hard-boiled eggs, Easter egg hunting, baskets from the Easter bunny and eating TOO MUCH candy!

We colored eggs at home, per tradition and to our surprise we got to color eggs a second time at Grandma and Grandpa's house during what we thought would only be an egg hunt!

Grandma and Grandpa hosted a "2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt" and Creighton eagerly anticipated the event! The kids' cousin Renner was there also.

On the way home from the Easter egg hunt Creighton exclaimed, "That was the best Easter egg hunt ever!!"
I am so glad the bunny took it easy on us this year- a few simple toys and not an overwhelming amount of candy.

Capturing pictures of kids rifling through their loot sure is difficult! Why don't they just want to stand still and show me what they got?
Of course- what a blessed Easter weekend as we also got to listen to General Conference and remember more of our Savior Jesus Christ and his love for us and our Heavenly Father's plan. Some personal prayers of mine were answered and peace brought into my life.
Happy Easter!!

Oh, How I Love This Blog!

I started this blog over 5 years ago and much to my surprise I am still going!
It is just about the only kind of social media that I am on, besides Pinterest. At the beginning of March after much coaxing from several people I FINALLY "jumped on the bandwagon" and signed up for a Facebook account. I posted a few pictures of my family and the children. After a month of Facebook I have decided I don't like it very much. It is great for the purposes of checking in with friends and family- boy a lot has changed with a lot of people and I am in contact with some I haven't thought of for years! However, for the purposes of sharing my own personal family events- I prefer this blog.
In fact, I have learned to really love that I have documented so many experiences. I attempted to use a few different websites to create a book out of my blog posts but my blog was too large to upload! So I went through and deleted numerous posts that were not family oriented (those things about couponing/recipes/crafting etc.) Still not able to upload the posts into a blog book that I liked, I am coming up with other ways to transfer this information so that it will not be lost and so that a hard copy can be retained.
So to those who still read our family blog- I will continue to post tidbits from our life. This blog is not fancy but I sure do love it!

Creighton's 5th Birthday Party

Today is Creighton's 5th Birthday!
We planned his party around a 22 minute made-for-TV movie called, "Toy Story That Time Forgot." If you haven't heard of it... you probably don't have ABC Family or a little boy. Creighton has only seen the movie 3 times but he really LOVES it, and on birthdays- mom does her best to please!

We had an afternoon party for Creighton and served lunch- Creighton chose Tuna Noodle Casserole! His cake was layered chocolate and strawberry with strawberry cream cheese filling.
He didn't ask for anything for his birthday, but we already knew what he would love- his own tablet!
("Wait... what is it? My own tab (tablet)?")
Playing a favorite game, "Angry Birds: Rio".

(Making funny voices with his "voice changer"!)
("Hooray! My favorite movie, Big Hero 6!" he says.)
More "Toy Story That Time Forgot" figurines! He almost has a complete set now!
Creighton told me several times that he had a great birthday party! He gets so excited for his birthdays and I love to make him feel so special on HIS day.
Creighton is a pretty neat guy, so glad to be his mommy!
