A Birthday and a Blessing

What a great past week we have had! So many milestones and excitement in our household!

First of all, on March 7th, our little man turned 3 years old!! Memories of him being born are still so fresh in my mind...

It has been a fun three years with Creighton! One of the words I would use to describe Creighton is curious. And he has recently discovered Curious George and loves all things George. I know why he is drawn to George. Like George, he is always a very good boy (sometimes monkey...), but curious... and when something "bad" happens it is usually not on purpose, but Creighton trying to be helpful or just being... curious... 

We decided to celebrate our Curious Creighton's birthday with a Curious George party!!

Creighton began his day by going to one of his favorite places- the park! And he invited a friend, Tiana, to come and play! We were grateful for the nice weather.

Then it was off to another favorite place... Arctic Circle and the best chicken and fries this birthday boy could ask for! Sweet Tiana even gave Creighton a Jake doll and bubbles as a gift. He LOVES Jake!!

A special t-shirt, balloons, and cake made this George party feel very curious!!

 Of course, our Curious Creighton found the cake in the morning, before it was supposed to be eaten, and ran his hands through the red piping. "Mmmm... candy..." he said. "Aaaahhhh!!!" said his mommy. But it still tasted delicious! Creighton loves Reeses peanut butter cups so I made a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. DELICIOUS!!

 Creighton opened many gifts, including Curious George books and movies, a t-ball set, clothes, and a Jake gameboy.

But the gift of the evening was this Jake camera from Grandma and Grandpa Wilde!

Creighton LOVES cameras and this was a hit! Creighton took several pictures of everyone there and pictures of all his presents. Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with him!

 And Creighton even had a late-night birthday surprise visitor...

Big Daddy flew to Idaho from Arkansas and as soon as he walked in the door he unzipped his suitcase and Creighton received more fun gifts, an Arkansas Razorback shirt (with Mickey) and a Skycopter!

The next morning Creighton had remembered the Skycopter and insisted on going outside to play with it and his t-ball set and the bubbles. This little boy never has a shortage of fun things to do! And neither did Big Daddy this weekend.
Creighton and Big Daddy are so lucky. They both have March birthdays, and every year since Creighton has been born they have received a special birthday present every March... being together!

 Big Daddy got some alone time with the kiddos one evening as Cason and I went to a Bar-J Wrangler concert to watch my mom receive an award. She was inducted into the Highland High School Education Foundation's Hall of Fame. Her award was for "Distinguished Activity Service". Way to go Momma!!

What a great start to the weekend celebrating Creighton's birthday. To end it we blessed our sweet Macey Jo. This little babe, like Creighton, has plenty of people who love her!!

Macey Jo's daddy gave her a beautiful blessing. He such a wonderful father. He is always saying to me, "Oh, she is just so beautiful." I am starting to get jealous... But he is right! A beautiful baby girl we do have!

We feel so blessed to have family so close and so many willing to travel to be with us for a special day.

Since Grandma and Papa Chambers were visiting for Macey Jo's blessing we took the opportunity to celebrate Creighton's birthday once again! But this time with Curious George cinnamon rolls!

Creighton also got a big boy kite from them... our spring is going to be busy with lots of outdoor fun!!

Wow!! What a weekend we had! It was so fun to celebrate our Curious Creighton's 3rd birthday- what a ball of energy he is! It was a wonderful Sunday as we blessed our precious Macey Jo. She is such a special addition to our family. And it is always so wonderful to be with family!

Lots to Celebrate

In our family we just love to celebrate!

And this week we helped our Daddy celebrate his 26th birthday! We tried to make him feel real special and do some of his favorite things. We had a delicious dinner chosen by him: barbecue ribs and macaroni and cheese! And we went to a movie- Wreck-it-Ralph. Cason LOVES the movies! But our dad doesn't like normal birthday desserts so it is always a challenge to think of a fun birthday treat. This year he decided on raspberry sherbet floats!

But he still had to have a "cake" so he could blow out candles and make a wish!

He is such a wonderful person and deserves to be celebrated a lot!!

And no birthday of Cason's is complete without a spicy gift!

We have also been celebrating with Grandma and Papa Chambers! They were called as mission presidents! We found out in December and have been waiting to find out where! Last week we met them in Idaho Falls at a restaurant to open the call...

 and they are going to...

 the Salt Lake City South Mission!

Are we excited? Oh, yes yes yes!! It is much closer than we imagined. But we are happy it is close because we can visit more often than we could otherwise. It was a strange idea to think that they might not see Creighton until he was headed into 1st grade and not see Macey Jo until she was 3 and a half!

The greatest part of the mission call is that we know it is exactly where the Lord wants them to serve.

So we are having a good time playing with Grandma and Papa until they leave this summer. Creighton went swimming in their pool yesterday and loved it! He told his grandma, "I am like a clown fish!" And she replied, "Yes you are! You make me laugh!"

Boy we just love to celebrate! Next celebration: Creighton's 3rd birthday!!

"No, Thank You" Valentine

I thought I would be a fun mommy for Valentine's Day and make hot pink heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast. After making them and setting them in front of Creighton he pushed them away and said, "No thank you!" And daddy won't eat breakfast... So I ate a Valentine breakfast alone.
Creighton did later eat one small one after I wouldn't let him have any of my Valentine candy since he didn't eat breakfast. 

 Mr. Creighton is sure polite with his words. A few weeks ago when he was sick we were trying to make him take some medicine and he screamed (mixed with many tears) "No thank you!! No thank you!!" It was hard not to laugh, so Cason and I did. And we partially succeeded in administering medicine to our sick boy. 

He is a cartoon and movie (and chocolate) addict. And he absorbs everything he hears. Last night he was watching Finding Nemo... There is a scene where the young ocean creatures call a boat a butt and they dare Nemo to "touch the butt." I went to check on him during this scene and he said, "Look mom! A butt! It's a big butt!" (I held in my giggle this time.) He does remember educational things though. He also told me Nemo's daddy was a clown fish. 

We had a conversation lately that went something like this:

Creighton: "Mom, let me look at your hair."

Me: "Ok." (leaned my head forward)

C: (after examining for 3 seconds) "Looks good."

M: "Thanks."

C: "I need a haircut."

M: "You need your hair cut?" (He really doesn't)

C: "No mom! Not tonight, it's dark! It's too late. I can't get in the car."

He has been obsessed with monsters and ghosts since Halloween. One of the young women in our ward was riding in our car last night and Creighton told her, "There is a ghost in the bushes." And he has seen a spider in our house like twice and talks about it all the time. He says he sees the spider under his bed, that the spider took his toy, that there is a spider in his mouth... yuck. He doesn't seem scared, he just likes talking about it. I am trying to teach him what the truth is and that we only say things that really happened. But it is a hard concept for an almost 3 year old to grasp.

Here he is sleeping. That giant dog is named Grits and Creighton insists on burrowing himself completely under him while sleeping. I always have to uncover him. It's a wonder he can sleep that way because he is always drenched with sweat. Creighton insists on sleeping with a plethora of stuffed animals. He also thinks sister should too and took this pig into her the other day: 

Creighton is in a sleeping transition right now. He doesn't really need a nap during the day and doesn't want to take one, but then he goes to sleep at 6:30 pm. So he either wakes up at 10:00 pm or 4:00 am wanting to play. So I have been trying to force a short afternoon nap but he is impossible to wake up and likes to nap at least 3 hours. Then a decent bedtime is also impossible.

Little sister is on a pretty good sleeping schedule at night. She goes down about 10:00 pm and wakes up at 2:00 am, eats and goes right back down, then back up at 5-6:00 am, eats and then goes right back down until about 9:00 am. But during the day she doesn't sleep longer than 30 minutes at a time. It makes stuff at home nearly impossible to do because she LOVES to be held.

Creighton is confused about daddy's sleeping schedule. Today he told me, "Mommy, be quiet, daddy is sleeping." I use to tell him that when Cason worked graves and slept during the day. But he hasn't done that for almost 2 months now. I think Macey Jo can't sleep long during the day because her brother is loud and she seems to be very sensitive to noise. Any peep and she is waking up to see what is going on. I feel terrible, I say several times a day, "Creighton! Be quiet! Sister is sleeping!"

This sweet girl couldn't help me eat the Valentine pancakes this morning, but I know she would have if she could! She loves Valentine's Day! She has been so happy to wear several pink and red outfits the past week preparing for the big day!

I forgot how hard it is to take pictures of a newborn because they are so wobbly (always falling over) and it is impossible to get them to look at the camera! However, soon I may be able to get some smiling pictures. She started smiling a few days ago and giggled yesterday.

Cason has been at work all day (and tonight) so he made me a Valentine's dinner yesterday! And today, though he wouldn't eat the pancakes either... he did leave me 13 folded up notes, each saying something he loves about me. I am supposed to read one every hour he is gone. It has been a lot of fun!
